Day 17 was the final day of our Great American Road Trip. For two and a half weeks my brother and I had been traveling through a large swath of the American landscape, covering fourteen states in all. We had traversed interstate highways, state roads and even rural dirt trails through some incredibly beautiful and diverse countryside. We'd visited at least eight major cities along the way (and quite a few smaller ones). In total, we covered 4,700 miles on the road; in addition, we had also walked more than 60 miles throughout the journey. We saw many iconic sites and witnessed firsthand the different aspects of the Americana that makes the United States so special. And I got to bond even more with my brother. I would recommend to all Americans reading this to take advantage of this great nation of ours. I have now visited more than 40 countries in my lifetime and can truly say the U.S. is as wonderful as any I have seen worldwide. Our last day of the road trip was mostly spent driving back to Miami, which took us about 5.5 hours. But before we left Tallahassee we made one more stop on this fascinating journey. After breakfast, we visited the Tallahassee Automobile Museum. The museum was listed on the internet as one of the things to do and see if in the Tallahassee area so we decided to give it a look. Besides, it was literally across the street from our hotel. And like many aspects of our trip, we were once again pleasantly surprised. The Tallahassee Automobile Museum (TAM) first opened in 1996 and contains one of the largest collections of vintage cars in the country. It is part of the private collection of Tallahassee businessman, Devoe L Moore. In addition to the more than 160 cars on display, the museum also has a unique collection of other items, such as baseball cards, speed boats, motorcycles, jukeboxes, Native American artifacts and more, including an awesome exhibit of both real and replicated batmobiles from the original TV show and the Hollywood movies. What a fantastic time we had! Initially, we were only going to spend an hour there, but it was so much fun we spent nearly twice as long. For any of you who might be passing through Tallahassee, I wholeheartedly recommend taking a moment to visit this interesting museum. Afterwards, Joe and I drove back to Miami. Home sweet home.
