We arrived in Nashville the previous evening from Georgia, checking into an Airbnb condo unit just a short walking distance from the lower section of Broadway Street, which forms the famed strip of lively music clubs, bars and restaurants in Nashville known more commonly as the Honky Tonk Highway. On the morning of Day 4 we drove to the Grand Ole Opry House for a tour of what is considered the mecca of country music. This fascinating tour lasted about 1.5 hours and took us through every part of this historic music venue, from the backstage to the actual stage. We saw the dressing rooms, locker rooms, music studios and the seating sections. As the tour was ending, our guide mentioned that there were nightly performances at the Grand Ole Opry and we immediately got tickets to see that evening's show. Afterwards, we drove to the city's Centennial Park to visit the Parthenon, an incredible full-scale replica of the Athenian Parthenon built in 1897 for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition. Since the 1930s, the Parthenon has housed exhibition art galleries and today the building functions as an art museum. Inside is also an enormous statue of Athena Parthenos (the goddess Athena) that was added in 1990. From here we headed over to tour the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Everything you need to know about country music and its origins you'll find in this magnificent building. We then had a late lunch at country music star Lainey Wilson's club and restaurant near the corner of Broadway and 3rd Avenue S. Like all the bars and restaurants in the area it had live musical performances (featuring local talent trying to make it in Nashville). We then walked the entire length of the Honky Tonk Highway (which gets as lively as Bourbon Street in New Orleans). It was wild and fun, the music and revelry spilling out onto the sidewalk...and it wasn't even night time yet! What an experience. We capped our stay in Nashville by taking in a show at the Grand Ole Opry House; the line-up featured six popular performers playing their hit songs or doing covers of country greats. It was a wonderful time. My brother and I had a blast in Nashville.
